Wat is VSME Module B2?
Module B2 van de VSME-standaard gaat over duurzaamheidsbeleid, praktijken en toekomstige initiatieven binnen je onderneming. In deze module geef je aan of je actief bent op thema’s zoals klimaat, circulariteit, sociale thema’s of goed bestuur. Je hoeft nog geen perfect beleid te hebben – het doel is om transparant te laten zien waar je nu staat én waar je naartoe werkt.

Voor wie is VSME B2 verplicht?
Deze module is onderdeel van het verplichte basispakket van de VSME-standaard. Dat betekent dat elke onderneming die voor optie A of optie B kiest, deze module moet invullen. Je hoeft echter niet op alle thema’s beleid te hebben – ook “nog niet”, “niet van toepassing” of “geen doelstellingen” zijn geldige antwoorden. Transparantie staat centraal, niet perfectie.

Je vult per duurzaamheids-thema in:
Of je nu al duurzame praktijken toepast (ja/nee)
Of je een formeel beleid hebt (ja/nee)
Of dat beleid publiek beschikbaar is (ja/nee)
Of je meetbare doelstellingen hebt (ja/nee)
Optioneel: hoe ver je bent met het behalen van je doelen (beginfase t/m gevorderd)

Waarom is module B2 belangrijk?
Module B2 maakt zichtbaar of duurzaamheid al onderdeel is van je strategie of dagelijkse praktijk. Ook als je nog geen beleid hebt, laat je hier zien dat je bewust bezig bent met verduurzaming. Deze transparantie is belangrijk voor investeerders, ketenpartners, banken en regelgevers.
Bovendien vormt deze module de basis voor het vervolg in het rapport, met name voor de optionele verdiepingsmodule C2.
Veelgestelde vragen over VSME B2
🌱 Moet ik overal beleid voor hebben?
Nee, juist niet. De VSME moedigt aan om ook plannen, intenties en ‘nog niet van toepassing’ transparant te vermelden.
📄 Wat als ik geen formeel beleid heb, maar wel iets doe?
Geef dan aan dat er praktijken zijn, maar (nog) geen beleid. Bijvoorbeeld: “We nemen al energiebesparende maatregelen, maar hebben nog geen formeel beleid geformuleerd.”
🌐 Moet ik beleid uploaden of linken?
Dat mag, maar is optioneel. Als je beleid hebt dat openbaar is, kun je de URL delen of uploaden. Dit maakt je rapport extra geloofwaardig.
🧭 Wat als ik niet zeker weet of een thema voor ons relevant is?
Gebruik de helpfunctie of kruisje-optie om aan te geven dat je iets (nog) niet weet. Je kunt het rapport dan wel gewoon afronden.

No. The VSME standard was created voluntarily by EFRAG (the same body behind the CSRD) for SMEs. Its purpose is to help SMEs report on sustainability in a structured way without having to prepare a full CSRD report.
Note that more and more customers, supply chain partners and financiers do ask for it. -
The CSRD is mandatory for large companies (from ±500 FTEs, listed and other cases) and requires extensive ESG reporting.
The VSME standard is an accessible, simplified guideline for smaller companies. It is less complex, but is consistent with the structure of CSRD. -
Yes. A VSME report shows in a clear and recognized way what your company is doing on sustainability. Increasingly, governments, corporates and municipalities are asking for ESG information in tenders - a VSME report is then a strong answer.

Basic: you indicate whether you have a policy, what you are already doing, and report your scope 1 and 2 emissions, your waste, and some basic characteristics about your staff, among other things.
Comprehensive: you go deeper into your strategy, risks, governance and performance. This level is especially relevant if you want to embed sustainability more strategically or it is demanded in the supply chain.

No problem. The VSME standard is meant precisely as a starting point. You can indicate where you do not yet have a policy or goals, and still deliver a report. This way you show transparency and demonstrate that you are on the move.

This is not certain. The expectation is that the VSME standard (or some variation of it) will become the norm for SMEs in the next few years, especially if they work with larger organizations covered by the CSRD, as well as in government procurement and bank lending. By starting now, you will be prepared and avoid catching up later.
